Meet The Pilot Lawyer

Christopher S. Ison is an aviation attorney born and raised in Lakeland, Florida. He has been a licensed airman since 2014. As a young child, Christopher was always infatuated with airplanes, so those that know him are not surprised that he would choose to combine his love of aviation with his legal career.

When you are most vulnerable and facing the prospect of losing your airman certificates, you want someone who is battled tested in the courtroom. Christopher’s early legal career was focused on jury trial litigation – whether prosecuting criminal matters or personal injury causes of action. Not only is he battled tested in the courtroom, but he is also proven. He is a Super Lawyers Rising Star and a member of The National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 – Civil Plaintiff.

In 2006, Christopher began his legal education at Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center after graduating from Florida Southern College with a degree in English. Subsequently, he graduated law school in 2009 in the top 20 percent of his class and passed the bar exam on his first attempt.

From the beginning of 2010 until the end of 2012, Christopher worked as an Assistant State Attorney for the Office of the State Attorney, Tenth Judicial Circuit in Bartow, Florida. As an Assistant State Attorney, Christopher prosecuted misdemeanor and felony criminal offenses while frequently conducting jury trials as lead counsel. In addition to his experience as a prosecutor, Christopher practiced plaintiff’s personal injury and medical malpractice civil litigation for several years at a Florida law firm known for tenacious trial advocacy. In his capacity as a civil plaintiff’s attorney, he counseled and consoled clients at some of their most fragile moments – whether suffering from the loss of a loved one or struggling to cope with a permanent and disabling injury.

The training and experience gleaned from his previous employments during his legal career gives Christopher an edge when handling your case for a multitude of reasons. His experience as a prosecutor enables him to better understand the intricacies of various criminal offenses affecting your certification when you are faced with presenting a criminal offense to the Federal Aviation Administration. To that end, his experience with personal injury and medical malpractice gives him insight into defending medical certification cases, whether you are facing an erroneous medical diagnosis, significant injury or illness, or difficulties with a physician.

Known as “The Pilot Lawyer” due to the fact that he is both a pilot and a lawyer, Christopher believes in the pillars upon which The Ison Law Firm was founded. In that, Christopher strives to be a blessing to an airman or passenger during their time of need.

Outside the practice of law, Christopher is happily married to his wife, Rachel, and is a proud father to their daughters, Sabrina and Audrey, and son, Oliver. As a certificated pilot, Christopher understands the issues that are relevant to you and your aviation career or hobby.
